Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 11, 2026
Lulltide ("the app", "we") is an audio playback app for layered and continuous background audio, generated masking noise, and tinnitus-masking tools. This policy explains what data the app handles. We do not run our own servers and we have no user accounts. The only data that leaves your device is the diagnostic and usage information described below, which is handled by Google's Firebase services to help us keep the app stable and understand how it is used.
Analytics and crash reporting
Lulltide uses two Google Firebase services: Google Analytics for Firebase (usage analytics) and Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting). These collect data automatically when you use the app, in order to help us fix crashes and improve the app. The information collected may include:
- App activity and interactions (for example, features used and in-app events), app version, and session information;
- Crash logs and diagnostics (stack traces, and device state at the time of a crash such as memory and storage);
- A Firebase app-instance / installation identifier;
- Device information such as model, operating-system version, and language;
- Approximate (coarse) location derived from your IP address.
The app does not collect your device Advertising ID and does not display ads. This data is collected by and shared with Google as our service provider, and is transmitted over an encrypted connection. Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and in How Firebase uses data. We use this information only to operate, maintain, and improve the app, and we do not sell your data.
Your audio files
When you add your own audio files, you select them from your device using the system file picker. Those files are played locally on your device only. They are never uploaded, copied to any server, or shared with us or anyone else. A list of the tracks you have selected is stored on your device so the app can play them again; this list never leaves your device.
Microphone permission
Lulltide requests the microphone permission (RECORD_AUDIO) for a single, optional feature: an on-screen waveform animation that reacts to the audio the app is playing. This feature is off by default and only active if you turn it on in Settings.
- The animation uses Android's
VisualizerAPI, which reads the waveform of the app's own audio output to drive the visual. Android requires the microphone permission to use this API even though the feature visualizes playback, not your microphone. - Your microphone is never recorded. No microphone audio is saved to storage or transmitted anywhere. The waveform data exists only momentarily in memory to draw each on-screen frame, and is then discarded.
Purchases
Lulltide offers an optional premium upgrade processed through Google Play Billing. Payments are handled entirely by Google; the app does not receive, see, or store your payment details. Google's handling of your purchase is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Data stored on your device
App settings (such as your volume and timer preferences) and your selected-track list are stored locally on your device. This information stays on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app.
Data retention and deletion
Analytics and crash data are retained by Google for limited periods in accordance with Firebase's defaults. Uninstalling the app stops all further collection. To request deletion of data already collected, contact us at the address below and we will action it through our Firebase console.
Children
Lulltide is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from children.
